Diamond Custom Homes was recently entrusted to remodel this beautifully maintained, classic Ft. Myers Beach home. Built in 1946 on a spacious, rare beachfront site stretching from Estero Blvd. to the white, sandy shore, this beachfront gem of a residence exuded Old Florida charm throughout its 1,600 square feet. The three-bedroom, three-bath home was highlighted by rich red cypress paneling and Florida pine floors, original to its construction. As part of the renovation, a new kitchen with granite countertops blended classic charm with modern convenience, overlooking the beach. Throughout its 76 years, Sea Mist surely served as the picture-perfect backdrop for thousands of getaways and family gatherings.

On Tuesday, September 27 (the day before the hurricane), our Assistant Project Manager Kacey visited Sea Mist. A testament to our commitment to service and trust, he relocated the homeowners’ cars to his personal residence to prevent their destruction.

In the days following Ian’s 150 mile per hour winds and 15-foot surge, Sea Mist’s homeowners posted a social media plea seeking to locate a vintage brass compass. The compass, also original to the home, was most certainly lost in the debris.

Our team again came to the rescue in a most personal way, visiting the home as soon as possible to survey the damage. Imagine Kacey and Warranty Manager Anthony’s surprise as they found—partially covered in sand, buried in debris near the home’s brick chimney —the compass intact.

The word compass stems from the Latin words com, meaning “together,” and passus, meaning “pace” or “step.” Together, the word compass means to “step together” or “journey together,” making the compass a symbol of journeys, travels, balance and hope.

As Southwest Floridians navigate this next chapter of our journey, Diamond Custom Homes stands steadfast in its committed to trust, personalized experiences and lasting relationships with each of our luxury home clients. These values will continue to serve as our compass as we help homeowners reach their destinations.
